The sinking of the Rainbow Warrior

The bombing of the Rainbow Warrior - Greenpeace New Zealand

The Sinking of the

Rainbow Warrior

On 10th July 1985, the Greenpeace vessel called the Rainbow   Warrior was departing on another human rights protest by sailing out   to the Mururoa Atoll and to stop the French from detonating another   nuclear bomb in the Pacific Ocean. Greenpeace is often described   as the largest environmental organisation in the world with offices in 39 countries. However, the Rainbow Warrior was sunk at the port of   Auckland by French Secret Service (DGSE) agents before the ship could depart.

The Rainbow Warrior sunk and killed 1 person: Fernando Pereira.
A portuguese photographer that drowned when the bomb exploded. The hole where the bomb went off was roughly the size of a car!

France’s point of view
France did not want to let New Zealand interfere with the nuclear testing going on in the Pacific ocean. A spy called Christine Cabon entered New Zealand and introduced herself to Greenpeace under the name of Frederique Bonlieu. She explained that she was very passionate about the environment and wanted to volunteer. Six weeks later Christine Cabon Departed and left New Zealand. Therefore, France got many ideas of what New Zealand was departing on the next protest and how France could sabotage it. Apparently nobody was meant to lose their life. The first mine was supposed to crumple the hull so the people on board would have enough time to get off before the second mine detonated. But instead, the first mine detonated and left a gigantic hole in the boat 7 minutes later the second mine went off and then 4 minutes after that the Rainbow Warrior sunk.

New Zealand point of view
New Zealand was very, very upset when they found out one of their allies had betrayed them. The skipper of the Rainbow Warrior called Peter Willox says he will always state the operation by France was murder. The people of New Zealand consider the bombing of the boat terrorism.

I having a super fun bike ride

I have not gone out of my house for almost a week now so my mum suggested that we to go on a bike
ride. But before we went my brother had to pump up my tyres because it was only 25 PSI
(pounds per square inch). Finally we set off.

Since I have not been out for a week I really noticed how beautiful the outside world is. I see that the leaves are green, red, orange, or yellow. I heard the birds chirping loudly and I smell the fresh gorgeous air. There were more cars than last week though even though we were not going down an alert level for another week. It feels like people seem to think that they are relaxing the rules a little bit.

I really miss being with my friends at school and I hope things turn back to normal now.

How soap works

        How does soap work?

Soap has been around for thousands of years. It is simply made out of an acid and a base. The acid is actually fatty acids. Combined with Triglycerides (a fat that is found inside your blood). Also the base is just Sodium hyperoxide. When these ingredients are mixed together and then the saponification reaction happens. Fatty acids separate from the Triglycerides and fuse to the hydroxide ions. Forming, soap.

When your washing practically anything with soap, it is doing a couple of things: First, it is decreasing the surface tension of the water. Second, it is binding to dirt, oil, bacteria etc. soap has a chain of connected oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen atoms.
One end of this chain is attracted to oils. And the other end is attracted to water. So when you are washing your hands, the lipophilic ends (attracted to oil ends) of the these chains picks up oils and grease adn when you rinse, the hydrophilic ends
(attracted to water ends) of the molecules follow the water. That means you can wash your hand and the soap with not much dirt left.

And that is how a bar of soap works.

What I have been doing in Isolation

Hello again. today I am going to tell you what I have been doing in isolation.

I have been quite bored recently in the lock down because
my parent's don't let me go out as much as I used too.

So what I have been doing for the last few weeks was:
1. Playing on my Keyboard and learning new songs.  (Entertainer)
2. Playing Computer games and watching YouTube.
3. Easter egg hunts in the house.
4. Playing with my cats.
5. Baking with my mum.
6. Playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
7. Playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in real life.
(By getting into a wagon and my dad pushing
it. I also steer with the handles).

That is about it. Thank you for looking at this blog post,
feel free to comment.
